Paris Struck Again: Car Ploughs into French Soldiers
At 6am GMT on Wednesday, a car ploughed into soldiers in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret, injuring six, four with minor injuries and two with more severe injuries.
A police operation is now underway to locate the whereabouts of a BMW and its driver in the area. “Police intervention is underway. Search underway for the vehicle,” said the Paris police in a Tweet this morning.
Speaking on BFM TV, the mayor of Levallois-Perret condemned the attack, branding it as “odious act of aggression” and said that he had “no doubt” that the attack was deliberate.
France has been in a state of emergency since 2015 and has been subject to a flurry of attacks on security forces who have been guarding prominent tourist areas.
Operation Sentinel has seen regular military patrols on the streets of Paris since the Charlie Hebdo massacre.
