The Labour Department has reported that May jobless rates are up in all 372 metro areas in the US. Each of the nation's biggest urban areas saw jobless rates increase only from a year earlier. The report has been a long time coming, with information that this is the fifth consecutive month that all 372 metropolitan areas had over-the-year unemployment rate increases.

Fifteen areas reported jobless rates of at least 15%, and 112 metro areas reported jobless rates of at least 10%. Detroit, Oklahoma City and San Antonio are among the those with the highest jobless rates.

The poor reports from the Labour Department have the US dollar's exchange rate at GBP0.6077 and EUR0.7133.
