State of the nation to be seen
A series of reports and surveys outlining the current state of the economy is to be launched this week.
At the start of the week, the pound stands at $1.89285, 220.38000 yen and 1.48490.
The first of report is the Department for Communities and Local Government house price index for June 2006, which is released today.
It is expected to show an unchanged rate of house price inflation from May, remaining static at an annual rate of 5.6 per cent.
Tomorrow the Bank of England is to publish its monthly Consumer Price Index, which is expected to reveal inflation remaining above the two per cent target.
The Bank of England will also later this week release information on current business conditions and the minutes of the monetary policy committee meeting which earlier this month produced an unexpected rise in interest rates.
Meanwhile the Department for Work and Pensions is to publish figures on the labour market, while the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) will release its Small and Medium Sized Manufacturers Survey.
